About me - Sean McCann

For almost twenty years, I have taught math & science in a classroom setting as well as in one-to-one settings to students from New York City’s diverse schools, including prep & private schools, magnet & specialized schools, & public schools, with ages ranging from 6th to 12th grades.

As a licensed math & science teacher, I decided to go back to school to receive my certification in Special Education to better cater to the unique needs of students who are school avoidant, on the Autistic Spectrum, have ADHD, Executive Function Disorder, and/or Memory/Processing Disorder. This has helped me to better teach my targeted subjects with patience and compassion & to make the learning experiences as fun and stress-free as possible.

I am always looking for approaches that will improve the outcomes of my students. I am a member of several teaching organizations, including Math for America, New York Science Teachers Association, and the National Association of Special Education Teachers. I have presented at workshops sponsored by some of these organizations. I enjoy learning from both my colleagues and my students.

Great Global History Tutor

Sean is an excellent tutor and we highly recommend him. He worked with our daughter last summer, and his skill and tutoring helped her to pass the Global History Regents. This year he worked with our daughter the entire school year and tutored her in U.S. History. She is a special needs student and Sean was always respectful of her challenges and devised creative ways to keep her engaged and focused. His constant efforts helped her to excel at the class all year and achieve a high score for the year. During the final weeks leading up to there Regents Sean was extremely flexible with his schedule and was always willing to accommodate our request for additional sessions to really support her right up until the day of the test. Thanks to Sean and his commitment to our daughter and her success she passed the Regents. We applaud all of his efforts and give him the highest recommendation. – Stephanie
